Tooraweenah Road Upgrade

Projects Details

The Tooraweenah Road Upgrade project has been identified by Coonamble Shire Council to be upgraded to accommodate for the heavy vehicles, the road crosses a flood plain and has poor soil conditions which makes it unsuitable for heavy vehicles. The general context of the project is to improve the road condition to provide safe travel for heavy vehicles which will in-turn improve travel times, increase productivity for business, enhance tourism to the national park, and improve flood resilience.

The total project length of 56km of Tooraweenah Road is split into 2 sections:

• Section 1: Sealed pavement with varying widths. The approximate length of this section is 29km. The aim of the upgrade works for this section is to construct shoulders as well as rehabilitation and heavy patching of the sealed sections.

• Section 2: Unsealed earthen formation with an average width of 7m. The approximate length of this section is 27km. The aim of the upgrade works for this section is to provide a 10.0m wide formation with a 9.0 wide seal, consisting of 3.5m travel lanes, 1.0m shoulders and 0.5m gravel verge.

Our Role

Rigore Engineering Services (Rigore) was been engaged by Coonamble Shire Council to provide detailed road designs and technical support for Section 2 of the Tooraweenah Road Upgrade in the locality of Coonamble.
